Notification of Dry Creek's Long-Term Independent Study Program
Posted 7/22/21

In response to AB 130, which was passed on July 9, 2021, Dry Creek is again notifying parents and guardians of enrolled Dry Creek students, that they have the option to enroll in Dry Creek Connections Academy, our long-term independent study program, if they wish to have a non, in-person learning alternative for their student(s) during the 2021-22 school year.

Dry Creek's Connections Academy offers a mix of independent learning and daily live virtual instruction in grades TK-8 from home. Information on our optimal independent study program can be found at

Parents and guardians have the right to request a student-parent/guardian-educator conference to ask questions before making the decision about enrollment or dis-enrollment in the various learning options offered by Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District. The conference may be conducted by telephone, videoconference, or in-person. If you wish to request a conference for your student, please contact Megan Devine, Coordinator of Virtual Learning at or 916-770-8858.

If you are considering enrolling your student into Dry Creek's Connections Academy, we respectfully ask you let us know by July 30, 2021 so staffing accommodations can be made if necessary.

If you have already enrolled your student in Dry Creek Connections Academy, no further action is needed.

Procedures for Enrolling, Disenrolling, and Reenrolling in Dry Creek Connections Academy (Long-Term Independent Study)
To enroll in Connections Academy for the 2021-22 school year, an agreement must be in place for each student. This agreement must be signed by the student's parent/legal guardian. You may start your online registration at For students with exceptional needs, the student's individualized education program (IEP) team, at their current school site, must specifically provide for Independent Study before the student can begin participating.

If your student is enrolled in Dry Creek Connections Academy, and you wish to have your student return to in-person instruction during the school year, you may provide notice to the Coordinator of Virtual Instruction, Megan Devine ( / 916-770-8858), and your student will be returned to in-person instruction no later than five instructional days after receiving the notice.

Students may re-enroll in Dry Creek Connections Academy at any time during the 2021-22 school year also by providing notice as outlined above.
