The school year sure is flying by! February 23rd marks the end of the 2nd trimester so look forward to report cards coming home later this month.  Please look them over and contact me with any questions or concerns.  All of our students are working hard on our common core standards.  Now is the time to re-read the packet of information I sent home with you at our parent/teacher conferences.  Included in this packet was information on helping your child blend and segment words, rhyming activities, high frequency word activities, etc.

We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Wednesday, February 14th.  Each child may bring in 27 valentine's (24 students, 1 teacher, 2 aides) to pass out in class.  We will make special valentine's day bags at school.  Please have your child write their name where it says "from" and leave the "to" part blank.  I will provide cookies to decorate and we will do fun Valentine's Day centers.

Book Bags are now in full swing and I can see the excitement students have when they tell me about the books they are reading.  Please only record the book that is sent home in your child's book bag on the Reading Incentive Form, and only record the book once. I highly encourage reading other books from home, but please do not record them on the sheet.  I can't wait for the students to earn their first book charm... it will be a happy day!

Kindergarten registration has begun for the 2018-2019 school year, so please help by spreading the news!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  I absolutely love teaching your children and they are an amazing class!

Our February Homework packet will come home in your child's Friday Folder on Friday, February 2nd.  This is a fairly large packet, since it is homework for a month.  Please follow the directions on each page, and don't leave it until the last minute to complete. Our February homework packet will be due back to school on Friday, March 2nd.

Remember that this homework is for your child to complete, but they may need your help with the directions.  Pencils and crayons only (no markers please).

Thank you to all the parents who have signed up to help.  We are still in need of a Music Docent (no experience necessary).

If it is your volunteer day in our classroom, please make sure you sign in at the school office first. Make sure you bring your photo ID for checking in.   When you arrive in the classroom, we keep a parent prep box in the back of the room filled with work that needs to be prepped.  Some items may need to be copied in the workroom, die cut, sorted, stapled, books made, etc. There will always be a sticky note and usually a sample of what needs to be done.  If you are helping with centers, please make sure you arrive on time so that you can hear my explanation of the center that you will be working at.  If you arrive early, please check out the parent prep box to see if there is something you can do until centers begin.

Center Time Parents:  If you are helping with a center, please make sure your cell phone is turned off so that all of your attention is on the students in your group.  We always want students practicing skills correctly, so if you see a child making reversals, please have them fix their mistakes. Center time is a quiet working/teaching time, so please use an inside voice with the students in your group.

Thank you again for volunteering your time.  Kindergarten is a wonderful place to be, and you and your child will always remember the time you spent in our classroom.
