kindergarten news image.jpg

I wanted to start by thanking all of you wonderful families for all the thoughtful gifts during teacher appreciation week.  I definitely felt appreciated.  Your children are a joy to teach and I look forward to coming to work every day to see them blossom.  I also wanted to thank all the families who came out for Open House.  The children were so excited and ready to share with you all of the hard work they have been doing in class.  A big shout out to Ms. Taylor, Avah's mom/art docent, for the wonderful display of our classes art work in the multi.  I hope everyone had a chance to go see it.

The year is winding down and coming to a close.  But we still have things to learn and do.  Your child will be assessed these next two weeks on many kindergarten standards.  Make sure they get a good nights sleep.

We are getting prepared for our end of year celebration.  This is an event you won't want to miss. It may even bring tears to your eyes.  So please make sure you have Wednesday, June 6th at 9:30 saved on your calendar.  We will be singing a few songs and handing out kindergarten certificates.

As this is probably my last update to my website for the year, I want to thank you all again for sharing your children with me.  It has been an incredible year and I am actually very sad to see it come to an end.  However, I am looking forward to having some fun this summer.  I hope you will come back to visit me next year. I always love to revisit with past students and see how they have grown.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  I absolutely love teaching your children and they are an amazing class!

Our May Homework packet went home in your child's Friday Folder on Friday, April 27th.  This is a fairly large packet, since it is homework for a month.  Please follow the directions on each page, and don't leave it until the last minute to complete. Our May homework packet will be due back to school on Friday, May 25th. .

Remember that this homework is for your child to complete, but they may need your help with the directions.  Pencils and crayons only (no markers please).

Thank you to all the parents who have signed up to help.  We are still in need of a Music Docent (no experience necessary).

If it is your volunteer day in our classroom, please make sure you sign in at the school office first. Make sure you bring your photo ID for checking in.   When you arrive in the classroom, we keep a parent prep box in the back of the room filled with work that needs to be prepped.  Some items may need to be copied in the workroom, die cut, sorted, stapled, books made, etc. There will always be a sticky note and usually a sample of what needs to be done.  If you are helping with centers, please make sure you arrive on time so that you can hear my explanation of the center that you will be working at.  If you arrive early, please check out the parent prep box to see if there is something you can do until centers begin.

Center Time Parents:  If you are helping with a center, please make sure your cell phone is turned off so that all of your attention is on the students in your group.  We always want students practicing skills correctly, so if you see a child making reversals, please have them fix their mistakes. Center time is a quiet working/teaching time, so please use an inside voice with the students in your group.

Thank you again for volunteering your time.  Kindergarten is a wonderful place to be, and you and your child will always remember the time you spent in our classroom.
