kindergarten news image.jpg

Thank you to all the parents who have returned their child's report card envelope (signed).  I hope you were proud of the progress your child has made and encourage them to keep up the great work.  This class amazes me everyday.  Today, in computer lab, they learned to type sentences using a word document.  Some students wrote 4-5 sentences, using periods, spaces, and making sure their sentences make sense.

Our kindergarten field trip is not until May, however, all permission slips and $10 needs to be turned in by this Friday, March 9th.  We are aware this may seem early, but the school nurse is required to review all field trip permission slips.  (We have 125 kindergartners).  Thank you to those families who have already turned them in.  I have started a list of parents who would like to attend the field trip.  Currently, I have 6 parents who are interested in going.  Reminder, parents must be fingerprinted and cleared through the district.  If you have questions about the fingerprint process, please ask in the school office.

Over the next 5 weeks, we are working on our Transportation unit.  We are learning facts about different kinds of vehicles.  We are enjoying listening to Informational Text books and fictional stories about transportation.  Together, we are writing about and drawing vehicles and learning how to label different vehicles.  We compare and contrast fiction stories with factual books about transportation.  We have also viewed some amazing videos of race cars and the Thunder Birds.

Kindergarten registration has begun for the 2018-2019 school year, so please help by spreading the news!

Spring break is coming up soon.  I hope everyone enjoys the two week break, great weather, and spending time with our kids.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  I absolutely love teaching your children and they are an amazing class!

Our March Homework packet will come home in your child's Friday Folder on Friday, March 2nd.  This is a fairly large packet, since it is homework for a month.  Please follow the directions on each page, and don't leave it until the last minute to complete. Our March homework packet will be due back to school on Friday, March 16th.

Remember that this homework is for your child to complete, but they may need your help with the directions.  Pencils and crayons only (no markers please).

Thank you to all the parents who have signed up to help.  We are still in need of a Music Docent (no experience necessary).

If it is your volunteer day in our classroom, please make sure you sign in at the school office first. Make sure you bring your photo ID for checking in.   When you arrive in the classroom, we keep a parent prep box in the back of the room filled with work that needs to be prepped.  Some items may need to be copied in the workroom, die cut, sorted, stapled, books made, etc. There will always be a sticky note and usually a sample of what needs to be done.  If you are helping with centers, please make sure you arrive on time so that you can hear my explanation of the center that you will be working at.  If you arrive early, please check out the parent prep box to see if there is something you can do until centers begin.

Center Time Parents:  If you are helping with a center, please make sure your cell phone is turned off so that all of your attention is on the students in your group.  We always want students practicing skills correctly, so if you see a child making reversals, please have them fix their mistakes. Center time is a quiet working/teaching time, so please use an inside voice with the students in your group.

Thank you again for volunteering your time.  Kindergarten is a wonderful place to be, and you and your child will always remember the time you spent in our classroom.
